Give God 7 Days

2024 has been a year that tested many of us in ways we never imagined. It’s tempting to want to skip ahead to 2025, pretending the struggles of this year never happened. But I’m here to remind you that God hasn’t forgotten about you. In fact, I keep hearing this phrase in my spirit: “Give God 7 days.”

We often associate our problems with human solutions and strategies, but what if the breakthrough you’ve been waiting for is on the other side of seeking God with intentionality? Let’s break down what it means to dedicate 7 days to God, leaning on His power instead of our own.

The Power of 7 in the Bible

The number 7 is significant in Scripture, symbolizing completion and perfection. Here are a few examples:

  1. Creation: "And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made." (Genesis 2:2-3)

  2. Jericho: "And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the Lord hath given you the city." (Joshua 6:15-16)

  3. Forgiveness: "Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven." (Matthew 18:22)

  4. Restoration: "Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean." (2 Kings 5:14)

The number 7 represents God’s ability to bring completeness, healing, and victory. What if you took the next 7 days to seek Him with your whole heart?

Experiencing God’s Glory

Many of us talk about the presence of God, but let’s be real—even sinners and the devil experience God’s presence because it is everywhere (Psalm 139:7-10). However, experiencing God’s glory is different. Glory is the manifestation of God’s character, power, and holiness. It’s transformative and leaves no part of your life untouched.

Think about Joseph: despite being betrayed by his brothers, enslaved, and imprisoned, he didn’t give up. He stayed faithful, and in God’s perfect time, He elevated Joseph to a position of influence and power (Genesis 50:20). God’s glory showed up in Joseph’s life, turning what was meant for harm into something miraculous.

How to Dedicate 7 Days to God

Here are steps to make the most of your 7-day commitment:

  • Set Your Intentions

    • Pray and ask the Holy Spirit: “What should I focus on during these 7 days?”

    • Write down your goals for this time—healing, clarity, direction, restoration, etc.

  • Create a Daily Routine

Begin each day with prayer and Scripture. Suggested verses:

    • Isaiah 40:31: "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

    • Matthew 6:33: "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

    • Philippians 4:6-7: "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

Journal your thoughts, prayers, and what you feel God is revealing to you.

  • Fast, If You’re Led

    • Fasting is a powerful way to quiet your flesh and hear from God more clearly. Whether it’s food, social media, or another distraction, ask God what to set aside.

  • Worship Daily

    • Spend time in worship, declaring God’s goodness. Worship invites His glory into your space.

  • Release Your Burdens

    • Write down the weights you’ve been carrying and symbolically release them to God in prayer. You might even burn the paper as a physical act of surrender.

  • Expect Miracles

    • Approach each day with expectancy, trusting that God will show up in ways that surpass your understanding.

  • Reflect and Share

    • Take time to reflect on how God is speaking to you or what He’s revealing. Share your experience with someone else, or simply write it down to look back on later. Keep track of how God moves during this time.

A Prayer for the Next 7 Days

Heavenly Father, I come before You, weary and burdened, but trusting in Your promises. Over the next 7 days, I dedicate my heart, mind, and spirit to seeking You. Reveal Your glory in my life, Lord. Show me the areas that need healing, the paths that need clearing, and the doors that need opening. I release my worries, my pain, and my fears to You, knowing that You are faithful. Holy Spirit, guide me each day and align my heart with Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
